The state of skiing was completely different in the early 1990’s. Tradition prevailed over innovation, styles were neon and rigid, and progression was stale. Steve Winter and Murray Wais helped change all that with a 15-minute film called “Nachos and Fear” in 1992. The ski community’s response to their revolutionary effort was overwhelmingly positive, and these two ski bums instantly realized the potential of this new direction and decided to pursue their calling.

In the 20 years that followed, Steve and Murray built MSP Films and together have produced 24 films, created the HDTV series “Focused,” received Powder Magazine’s “Movie of the Year” award seven times out of eleven, and were nominated for three Emmys in 2006 and 2007 for Outstanding Cinematography. In an industry that has seen the number of film companies explode from three or four to literally dozens, MSP has managed to remain atop the pinnacle while simultaneously branching out into other realms.
