Victoria Woodsworth And The Heroes

Hi there. My name’s Victoria Woodworth. i was born a hell of a long time
ago in San Francisco, California, in the summertime. my grandmother Lee
had a big sprawly house in La Honda, a very small town south of SF on the
peninsula, which is where i spent a large part of my childhood. Neil
Young has a ranch near there now which i have never seen. when i was
seven the family moved to Colorado because California was too expensive,
and since i was only seven i had to go with them. apparently i was not
destined to meet Neil Young at that point in time.
in Denver i went to Catholic school, learned to play guitar badly and
began listening to songwriters like Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Bob
Dylan and bands like the Turtles and the Kinks. it was there that i first
became a nonconformist and experienced love and political unrest, grew my
hair long and smoked pot just like everybody else. i went to France, took
drugs and a few classes, wrote about three hundred awful songs, came back
to America, moved in with my boyfriend and joined his rock band, Kid
Sister, for ten years. when that finally self destructed like a bad dream
i got married to someone else and went back to writing those awful songs
that i enjoyed so much in Europe, adding new influences of honky tonk and
rockabilly to the folk/pop soup.
after six years the marriage ended and i was primed for a strange and
wonderful solo career which i am currently in the middle of. i know
you’re not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition, but if you
can’t get over a little thing like that then you’re not going to enjoy my
shtick very much.
on the other hand, if you are one of those people that guffaws at
inappropriate times (like eulogies and company picnics), and feels
continually like you don’t belong anywhere in particular, then you’ll
probably love my deal.
