The Glass released Concorde in December of 2003 in their hometown of Memphis, Tennessee on the local artist-run label Makeshift Music, an independent collective of like minded musicians (The Glass, Snowglobe, Blair Combest, etc). More than a year in the making, Concorde showcases songs culled from less polished earlier releases and honed by more than a year of playing small bars in and around the Memphis area. The Glass spent 2004 touring with Lucero in regional and national venues and were voted one of the top bands in Memphis in the 2004 Memphis Flyer’s Annual Music Poll (..4 — behind Lucero, the Reigning Sound, and the North Mississippi All Stars). National radio promotion by Team Clairmont landed The Glass in the top 200 on the College radio charts in the spring of 2004, peaking at ..175 on CMJ. Nationally released by Carrot Top Distribution, Concorde has been well reviewed both nationally and locally. The Glass will release a new full-length record in 2005, elaborating on the sound of Concorde with an edgier, more guitar-driven feel — the same epic feel and meltdown urgency expanded by the catastrophe propelled volume of their live performances. Chris Davis of the Memphis Flyer says “The Glass…can shift gears from straight-up rockers to creepy but artfully arranged melancholic moaners. They make hopelessness so damn romantic you almost want to go out and throw your life away so you can feel half as beautifully lost as they sound,” and maybe that sums the band up completely…
