The Calm Before
The Calm Before was born in late May of 2004, from the ashes of the infamous Denver-area rock band Feature981. Though the Juggernaut made great headway in the Colorado music scene, the group felt pigeonholed and dated. Everyone knew it was time to shake things up a bit. The group shed their skin of all titles, associations and achievements, including being awarded and recognized as the “Hardest working band in Denver”, and went into the basement. After a summer of writing, rehearsing and planning, the group entered 8 Houses Down in Denver, Colorado, to record their efforts. The stage was set for The Calm Before to storm back into the music scene, and that’s exactly what happened. The immediate reaction to the group’s return was incredible. Over the next 8 months, The Calm Before averaged three shows a month, produced a music video and made occasional weekend treks across the state. These kids worked their asses off, but something was still missing. On the one year anniversary of the debut of The Calm Before, percussionist Jim the Worm was brought into the lineup to replace the band’s previous drummer. Jim’s individual talents have breathed new life into the powerful, breathtaking sound of The Calm Before. Now equipped with a powerhouse lineup, and the unrestricted determination to become a full time touring band, The Calm Before prepare to take their message around the world.
