Nu-metal? Pop punk? Metal core? Emo? Electro clash? Indie rock????…Haven’t we had enough labels on music over the past few years? The members of SiX seem to think so. Formed in the summer of 2001, this LA/Orange County CA band found themselves bored of all the music that surrounded them, so they decided to hit the studio and do their own thing. These sessions spawned the bands debut EP “When The Beauty’s Gone” (released on their own 1605 Records) and then a constant blitzkrieg of performances all over America. “Our vision was clear from the get go” adds guitarist / programmer Alfunction. “We just wrote the songs, bought a van, released our EP and got to work.” Hitting the country with such heavyweights as: Clutch, Gwar, Dope, Bloodlet & Scissorfight, SiX could sense their “Next Level of Heavy Music” was getting through. "It was awesome just coming out of nowhere and making these crowds lose their minds. No warning, just hit ‘em hard and leave. We knew we were onto something. " states drummer Rob Woods. “Something powerful.” Based on these intense performances, SiX were asked to join Jager buds I.R.A.T.E on a west coast Jagermeister Club Tour, and to join some of Jagermeister’s “Jagermusic Tour” with Coal Chamber / Ill Nino (2002), (Hed) Pe / Saliva (2003), and Slipknot / Fear Factory (2004) for some opening dates around the country. "We just found people in this business who believed in the “get up and go for it” mentality, vocalist LAUREN throws in, "We just don’t relate to the Hollywood “sit around and think you’re cool thing”…it just isn’t us" Rick Zeiler, Jager’s marketing king, ads in “No one works harder than these guys on an indie level…no one” And thanks to companies like Jagermeister and other believers around the country, SiX has managed to stay busy from its inception and has kept a deep DIY work ethic. “We just had our own plan from the beginning and we stick to it”, says LAUREN. “We don’t have anything against working with other people at all…we simply chose to not wait for someone to come around and start our careers for us. There’s too much that we want to do.” After selling just under 5000 copies of their debut EP, SiX went back into their home recording / rehearsal studio and developed the material for their next release. These songs came to the attention of Las Vegas based studio owner / engineer Tom Parham. He and the band tracked the entire new album “The Price of Faith” in just under 3 weeks. " I heard the material and it was obvious to me this was worth my time" states Tom. “I was blown away at the power this band possessed and how focused they were. We even got veteran producer / engineer Bill Kennedy (Filter / NIN / Morbid Angel / Nothingface) to mix it for us on spec!” Laughs Parham, “This one is SICK!” Growing up on everything from metal, to punk, to hip hop, to classic rock, the members of SiX turned everything up to 10 and just began writing. Not worrying about trends or mainstream acceptance, but relying solely on an instinct to write good songs. “We just want to make great songs, great albums, and put on great live shows…that’s about it,” adds vocalist LAUREN. Once again pushing the creative envelope, SiX manage to deliver crossover tracks “Everything” and “We All Lie” to show influences from Metallica and U2, to David Bowie and AC/DC. “I guess we’re all into so many types of music, it’s all bound to show up somewhere, but high energy and power are our main ingredients. I think deep inside all we really try to do is make music that will rock a great show,” adds Alfunction “Let’s face it, great rock music is meant to be seen and felt…it’s all about the live experience. Fuck the rest of it”…laughs LAUREN “We’ll see you on the road” SiX is: LAUREN-Vocals ALFUNCTION- Guitars—Programming ROB WOODS- Drums DEVEN PAHL—Bass FRANK ABBATECOLA—Guitars SiX is proudly sponsored by: Jagermeister, Mesa/Boogie, S.I.T. strings, Schecter Guitars, Morley Pedals, Seymour Duncan, Godin Guitars, and Replicant Clothing
