THE HOTEL CAFÉ LAUNCHES FIRST EVER NATIONAL TOUR
Month-long trek features Cary Brothers, Tom McRae, Rachael Yamagata, Butch Walker,
Imogen Heap, Jarrod Gorbel of The Honorary Title, Joshua Radin, Joe Purdy, Jim Bianco & more
From a close-knit family of talented local songwriters and friends, to national acts, opting for a more intimate setting, the Hotel Café, once just a small Los Angeles coffee shop, has quickly blossomed into not only the premier singer/songwriter venues in the United States, but also a kind of all purpose clubhouse for a newly burgeoning community of songwriters.
On any given night, you can find well known artists (such as: Weezer, Jewel, Concrete Blonde, Lucinda Williams, Minnie Driver, Adam Duritz, Damien Rice, Ray LaMontagne, Jason Mraz, John Popper, Rilo Kiley, Ravi Coltrane, Zooey Deschanel, Vanessa Carlton and many more) on the same bill with up-and-comers, playing both as solo artists and as a communal project, sometimes well rehearsed and sometimes in the heat of the moment, and more often then not, jamming into the wee hours of the morning.
At the beginning of 2005, the Hotel Café took its show on the road, producing two incredibly successful events, presented by KCRW. The first, at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT, and the next event, at the South By Southwest Music Conference in Austin, TX. An estimated 1200-1500 people came through the doors in Texas over six hours, leaving the 300 seat venue at capacity from the time the doors opened. The next step was fairly obvious to all involved.
This fall, The Hotel Café is proud to announce the launch of its first national tour. The tour will consist of a core of three artists who will play at every show. While each city will feature different headliners and local heroes, including many seasoned veterans as well as locals and up-and-comers. The tour will last for six weeks, hitting every major city in North America and will include a high profile appearance at the 2005 CMJ Music Festival in New York City.
The concept of this tour is to share that same community vibe with music fans all over the country, as well as spread the music itself, which, as a genre, is rapidly emerging as the cornerstone in the next generation of music. No cookie cutter corporate American Idols, just real music, written by real artists, surrounded by real friends, who actually have a story to tell.
