Moccasin (Denver band formerly known as Nightingale) has created its own natural sound entangling thick swells of guitar with dreamy vocal melodies, rooted by a deep and heavy rhythm section. They have erected a sonic giant; weilding fuzz pedals, reverb tanks, and tape echoes as a means to forge immense walls of analog sound. Comparisons have been made to Ride, Black-Sabbath, Hawkwind, Sonic Youth, Spacemen 3, and the Verve.
Moccasin finalized its line-up in early 2003, and has planted itself firmly into the local Denver scene.
After playing the Larimer Lounge showcase at SX SW in 2005, Moccasin released a six-song EP which has been very well received by the press and their fans. The release of Last Leaf was followed by a month long US tour. The band successfully covered the west and east coasts. This full-sounding record meshes hints of British rock(shoegaze), American psychedelia, and thick, dreamy aural arrangements.
