“Nickelback and P.O.D. are not metal, and frankly it annoys me when they are mentioned in the same breath as metal,” says MALAKAI vocalist Chris Forsythe. Formed in August 2004, MALAKAI was created with one purpose in mind, to create metal that is loud, fast and devastatingly heavy. Combining a wide range of influences that include old school death metal, thrash and grindcore to modern day metal and metalcore, this talented four piece makes music that is both familiar yet innovative. Posers and fakes step aside and make way for true metal. Make way for MALAKAI.
Formed in the Summer of 2004, MALAKAI is comprised of Forsythe, Jamison Becker (Drums), Jon Saultz (Guitar) and bassist Joe “SHO” Gaydos. All long time veterans of the Colorado music scene, the four members of MALAKAI have quickly established themselves as serious contenders for the heavy music crown. The independently released ep “Chasing Demons” has garnered praise from around the globe, with the title track being chosen as garageband.com “Track of the day” for January 21, 2005. Promoters and club owners have taken notice, as the band has been asked to share the stage with such underground heavyweights Cattle Decapitation, Into Eternity, and Vader, among others. Currently the band is in the studio recording the follow up to “Chasing Demons,” preparing to record a live dvd, and planning a summer tour of the midwest/southern United States.
