THE THIRD CD IS THE CHARM
Singer/songwriter Linda Storey is releasing her third CD accompanied by her daughter Jessica and the ‘Alleluia Blues’. Her writing is flavored with rhythm, blues and rock and features tight, vocal harmonies . ’Don’t Let It Stop You’ is the appropriate name for this CD. Linda’s passion and career has always been her music since the age of 15. Denver’s own, Chuck Morris, spotted her talent and managed her for the first two years of her career. Influenced by such legends as Joni Mitchell, John Lee Hooker and the Byrds. She started at “The Hill” in Boulder, CO then toured throughout the northwest with bands such as, “Moondance” and “Crystal Ship”. During this time she learned how to rock and was influenced by such bands as “Heart”, “Fleetwood Mac” and “Leonard Skynnard.” Her career was stopped for awhile as she dealt with the diagnosis of MS. After reassessing, she restarted her career, Linda performed at the Fox Theatre in Boulder for the Women from Mars CD release party in 1999 that featured several singer-songwriter’s such as, Sally Taylor and Wendy Woo. From there she has performed several shows with them. Some of the places Linda and daughter Jessica have performed at are the Denver Performing Arts Center, the Trilogy Wine Bar and several universities. She is now releasing her third CD. Writing since the age of 9, Storey has skillfully crafted 10 new songs and is already receiving glowing reviews for her new CD, “Don’t Let It Stop You”.
Storey surrounds her daughter Jessica and herself with The Alleluia Blues, an outstanding mixture of musical talent. Kent Richardson on lead guitar has known Linda since high school. They both aspired to be singer-songwriter/guitarists. Kent built an in-home studio and along with Jimmy Richardson, Kents brother, on bass and drummer/singer-songwriter Michael Myers they formed the band, “King Beat”. Bruce Waring on keyboards, also a singer-songwriter, and singer-songwriter, Jerry Byers, on congas, percussion and slide guitar came from the band Yarrow. Philip “Fly” McClard on tenor sax, formally from the Chris Daniels Band, completes the sound that Linda was looking for.
Linda Storey will be featured in the premier episode of, “Broken Wings” a documentary series hosted by Pat Morita, best known as Mr. Miyagi in the movie, “The Karate Kid”. This series will be aired on several PBS stations throughout the United States this spring and summer.
