Forever Departed was first conceived at a birthday party for a mutual friend of the band. Nick (Bass) and Shaun (Drums) were in another band, Private Reserve, at the time and were at the party to play with them. After their set, Clay (Guitar) played future Forever Departed songs solo. Nick and Shaun liked what they heard, so they came to Clay with the proposition of starting up a band. So, Forever Departed started jamming in September of 2002 as an instrumental project shortly after their meeting.
Another guitarist, Marshall, was brought on board at this time as well to round off the initial line up. Forever Departed started playing gigs around Denver
that Winter season and recorded their first demo in December of 2002 and January of 2003 in Marshall’s
basement. During the following months, Forever Departed continued to play as instrumental band until August of 2003. At this point, Marshall decided to pursue other musical projects and they brought in
Shane (Vocals) to turn Forever Departed into a band
with vocals. Shortly after Shane’s arrival, Forever Departed recorded their first demo with vocals at Time Capsule Studios in December of 2003. Now, Forever Departed looks to make themselves a name in the Denver area music scene and possibly the national music scene.
