For someone who¹s only been on the scene for almost three years, DJ Tatiana Alvarez¹s career is headed for the top! Her unique spinning sound of Tribal/Funky House/Progressive, has her stamping her mark in clubs around the U.S and parts of Mexico. Having been blessed with an immeasurable beauty, Tatiana not only sounds amazing, but looks it as well. With a rough and tough “Tank Girl” style, she not only captures her audiences, she mesmerizes…
Soon to be featured in Playboy¹s April 2004 music issue, Tatiana is no stranger to the entertainment world. Bitten by the acting and modeling bug at a very early age, she has successfully appeared in television and feature film roles as well as graced the catwalk in the United States, Australia and Japan. While she has her success in both arenas, she always felt that there was something missing… a passion to love what she was doing. Then it happened, one night about four years ago, she found what she was looking for when she went to an Underworld performance at the Santa Monica Civic Center and was fascinated by their energy. While watching DJ Darren Emerson she knew at that moment she would be a DJ.
Six months later she bought her first turntables and mixer, and began to teach herself. She was also very lucky to have been mentored by DJs such as Grant Plant, Timo Maas, Loco Dice and Brian Gearwhore, who aided her in sharpening her skills on the turntables. However, what makes Tatiana unique is her choice of music. Coming from Cuban decent, she has always been interested in music. Her fascination with tribal music began when she took an ethnomusicology course while attending college at UCLA to have a better understanding of her Cuban heritage. After studying the ceremonies of the Yoruba and Dogon tribes in Africa and seeing how the music tied into their culture she knew she had found her soul. This original style has made her one of the most sought after new DJ¹s in the field.
With drive and determination, this beautiful, smart lady plans on being the most famous DJ in the world, and like her “Tank Girl” persona, she won¹t mind “kicking ass and taking names” to reach that goal.
