Reviews of Time and the Maiden:From Outburn:On their second release, TIme and the Maiden, Precipicerecording artists Claire Voyant expand upon their etherealsoundscapes, bringing what started on their eponymous1995 debut to fruition. Victoria Lloyd intertwines herdelicate yet classical feeling voice with the evocativekeyboard lines from Chris Ross, who also provides thedancey drum loops and programming that set this recordapart from its predecessor. Add the exquisite guitarmelodicism of Benjamin Fargen, and Claire Voyantproduces a sound most similar to the new direction beingtaken by Love Spirals Downwards, but less of anemphasis on upbeat techno beats, and more of theheavenly melodies both bands are known for. I find the record an excellent disc for latenight candlelight excursions…it simply floats throughout the air on a moonlit whimsical path,dipping and weaving to it’s own hypnotic beat.
