Citizen Bird

Formed in Gothenburg, Sweden, psychedelic rock quintet Citizen Bird — vocalist Simon Ohlsson, guitarist Andreas Nilsson, drummer Anders Gustafsson, bassist Jukka Rintamaki, and keyboardist Jon Olmeskog — came together as a group of art-school students in the late ‘90s. The band (also going under the name Silverbullit in Europe) released its debut in 1997 on Swedish indie label Fine Tone. In April 2002, it released Citizen Bird on NONS/MNW in Europe and Stinky Records in the U.S. Also in 2002, the band was nominated for Best Rock Act at Sweden’s version of the U.S. Grammy Awards. As part of its U.S. tour the same year, the band played at the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX.
