Chester Everett & the Platte Valley Boys

Add To Favorites

CHESTER EVERETT AND The Platte Valley Boys first came together in the summer of 1999 when two members of RONNIE DAWSON¹s touring band, CHESTER IMPERIALS">EVERETT and MIKE AND THE RAGERS">MOLNAR, discovered a mutual appreciation for the sounds of Western Swing and Hillbilly Bop. When their touring commitment ended, they quickly set about forming a band. They recruited guitarist STEVE SZCZEBLOWSKI (ex-MOONDOGS), drummer JASON RUSSELL (DEKE DICKERSON AND HIS ECCO-FONICS), and THERESA YOUNG on fiddle and vocals. After a month of rehearsal, the group made it¹s debut in October of 1999 at the LA RUMBA nightclub in Denver, Colorado. Personal and professional commitments led to STEVE SZCZEBLOWSKI¹S departure from the group in January, 2000. He was replaced by steel guitarist ZACH BODDICKER. A year and numerous gigs have come and gone, and the Platte Valley Boys have bid farewell to MIKE MOLNAR, ZACH BODDICKER and THERESA YOUNG. They¹ll be missed, but a trio of top-notch swingsters have stepped in to keep the people jumpin¹. BRET BERTHOLF, BRET BILLINGS and KEVIN YOST are familiar to Honky Tonk music lovers as members of HALDEN WOFFORD AND THE HI-BEAMS, and now they¹re lending their considerable talents to Chester Everett.

Jazzy lead breaks, jumpin¹ rhythms, and exciting ensemble work are the hallmarks of the Platte Valley Boys sound. The group¹s influences include (but are not limited to): BILLY JACK WILLS; HANK PENNY; JIMMY BRYANT & SPEEDY WEST; COUNT BASIE; BOB WILLS AND HIS TEXAS PLAYBOYS; JOHNNY SMITH and many more…

CHESTER EVERETT AND The Platte Valley Boys have shared the stage with BIG SANDY AND HIS FLY-RITE BOYS; BILL KIRCHEN AND TOO MUCH FUN; the ROYAL CROWN REVUE; and Wormtone labelmates the BLUE RIBBON BOYS. In addition, the band performed on the Dancehall stage at the 2000 VIVA LAS VEGAS music festival. Wormtone Records plans on releasing the group¹s debut EP soon.
