Bombshell Rocks

The story so far…

With their debut release “Street Art Gallery” in 1999, the Swedish five-piece Bombshell Rocks showed the world what punk rock should sound like. Working in the same vein as The clash,Operation Ivy, Bad Religion, Stiff Little Fingers, and Rancid, the band came up with an aggressive and vital sound that managed to shake the cobwebs off the punk rock formula…

BOMBSHELL ROCKS started out late 1995. They released an minidisk “Who’s TheReal Bastard” and the seven inch “Going Up Going Down” on their own label Noiseline. 1998 they were picked up by Sidekicks Records and released the charming CDS “Underground Radio”.

1999 saw the release of their debut album, the masterpiece titled “Street Art Gallery”. Never before had such a young Swedish punk band recorded a debut so packed with blistering punk extravaganza. After the release of “Street Art Gallery”, the band was “transferred” to Burning Heart Records (Sidekicks is Burning Heart´s In-house label) to point out that this band is one of the labels big priorities in all aspects.

After the smashing “Street Art Gallery”, BOMBSHELL ROCKS toured Europe and USA together with bands such as DROPKICK MURPHYS, MILLENCOLIN, ANTI-FLAG, US BOMBS and NO FUN AT ALL… Shortly after the release of the debut, the guitarist Richard left the band due to personal reasons, and was replaced by Ola Hjelmberg.

In the summer of 2000, the band entered Soundlab Studio in Örebro, Sweden to record the follow-up album to “Street Art Gallery”. Bombshell Rocks decided to work with the same team as on the debut, meaning Miezsko Talartzkyk (Nasum) and Mathias Färm (Millencolin) as engineers and producers. On the album, entitled “Cityrats & Alleycats”, BOMBSHELL ROCKS continues to spit out fast, energetic and melodic punk rock songs in the same vein as they did on “Street Art…” album. This time though, better, more dynamic and with more punch added to their sound. Starting off with the explosive “21:st Century Riot”, and finishing off 11 crackin’ punk rock anthems later with the fantastic “20 Days”, “Cityrats & Alleycats” is indeed a holiday in the sun for all the young kids and old stale warts not yet burned out on what punk has to offer.

2002: In January 2002, rumoures spread that something was about to happen within the band structure. A few weeks later, the bomb was dropped: Richard who played and wrote several of the songs on the debut-album “Street Art Gallery” is back in the band, with Ola out!

The bands third album “From Here And On” was released in October 2002. This time, the band recorded at the famous Tonteknik Studio (where REFUSED laid down their classic “The Shape Of Punk To Come”). “From Here And On” shows a more melodic band than before. Strong punkrock with lots of melody and harmonies, and pretty damn sure the bands best album to date.

In the summer of 2003, Mårthen Cedergran left the band to focus on a career as a tattoo artist. They are now continuing as a four-piece with Guitarist Crippe Määttä and other guitarist, Richard Andersson behind the microphone. 2006. They just released their new album “The Conclusion” on finnish label Combatrock Industry and the future is yet to come… More info comming soon..

BOMBSHELL ROCKS SAYS
We got together with the intention to play high-energy punkrock the way our favorite bands did it.
Not to make a carbon copy of those bands but to take the best parts (The energy, The simplicity and the honesty) of their music and make our own special blend.
We rehearsed at the infamous “E-18 house” in our hometown Västerås/SWEDEN. This was the place where we wrote our first songs, And also where the goal was set. The goal was to put 100% into our music and try to get as far as possible.
After all, The reason why we started to play music was beacuse there was nothing else to do and we needed a way to express ourselves.

Since then we´ve reached parts of our goal.
We´ve got the ability to put out records, And also to go on tour and play shows around the world
which of course is a dream come true for every band.
Somethings have changed since the beginning, But our intention is still (and will always be)
To play high-energy punkrock.

See you out there!!
