Billy Bacon & The Forbidden Pigs were originally brought to Triple X by Mojo Nixon, who had become enamored with the band’s straight-forward roadhouse style. Their debut, Una Mas Cerveza, proved the band to be as at home in the studio as a smoky club. and it got folks to notice the trio from San Diego who played the music known as Tex-Mex Blues-a-billy. Dressed to Swill followed, placing the Pigs in the musical company of Evan Johns, Mojo Nixon, Michael Doucet of Beausoleil, and Country Dick Montana of the Beat Farmers Veteran roots rock producer Dave Alvin, known largely for his solo recordings and work with the Blasters and X, came on board to produce the third Pig-fest, The Other White Meat. As was the case with the recording of Dressed, word of the latest Pig-sessions attracted numerous guests to come by and jam, pig-style. Hightone recording artist Chris Gaffney lent his considerable accordion talents to the proceedings, while bountiful cowgirl Candye Kane joined Billy for a duet. Even the eagle had landed-as long-time Pig fan and supporter Joe Walsh played some of his trademark slide guitar. Currently, the band has accumulated a host of new songs in which they are showcasing live.
