Beth Orton: ‘Comfort of Strangers’
New album released in February 2006

The new Beth Orton album, ‘Comfort of Strangers’, is in stores on February 7th, 2006.

The 14-track album was recorded at New York’s Sear Sound studio in the spring of 2005, with the much-acclaimed musician and composer Jim O’Rourke as producer. O’Rourke — most recently guitarist and bass player with Sonic Youth — has previously worked on recordings by such diverse groups and artists as Wilco, Stereolab and the noted American guitarist John Fahey.

‘Comfort of Strangers’ — Beth’s fourth album — was recorded in two weeks. It features Beth Orton on guitar, piano and harmonica with O’Rourke on bass, piano and marimba and the esteemed American percussionist Tim Barnes on drums.

Beth Orton composed all the songs, although the title track was written in partnership with O’Rourke and singer-songwriter M. Ward.

Watch Beth perform her song “Conceived” on the Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday January 24! (check local listings for times and stations)
