Pronounced “miooyyuujm” according to their MySpace, Mum is ready for anything… including thanking fans for their loyalty and patience while they released their latest album, “Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy.”
With a knack for “musical exploration” Mum hit up both the FatCat Festival in Belgium and SXSW in Austin. The group utilzied a “combination of decks, effects, laptops, toy microphones, old cassette player recordings and vocals, coupled with their own recorded material, strange electronic covers by friends, gypsy folk music and general craziness on stage.” Mum’s DJ sets at these festivals (and other appearances) apparently “made such an impact, the band is now putting together a DJ mix cd due for release in 2007.” Great news for Mum fans! Isn’t their history sort of a grassroots effort gone electronic?
