Some Random Band may appear as the typical rock band just trying to make it in their local scene, but these boys don’t act or sound typical. Originality, deep musical knowledge and appreciation, and professional behavior beyond their years ensure SRB a position above the norm. Each individual member contributes something slightly raw or emotional to each tune, whether a bass line to make you dance or lyrics that remind you a little too much of yourself. Some Random Band’s strong belief in music is demonstrated in their original melodic rock tunes on their debut album “More or Less.” Hints of influential artists show up on this release but never so much that SRB is lost. Let’s just say if you were (or are) a fan of Third Eye Blind, Counting Crows, or Better Than Ezra, then you’ll definitely enjoy SRB’s modern take on their pop/rock genre.
Straight from the boys of SRB is some quirky information that proves they really are just guys who dig making and performing music…
One of their favorite tunes to perform is “One Night Stand.” It holds its own with confessional lyrics and harmonies to complement: “Don’t hide your face, blink twice if you know this is goodbye…”
But SRB doesn’t take everything so seriously…each member will openly tell you their lead vocalist/rhythm guitar player, Paul, has a knack for telling bad jokes. Brandon thoroughly enjoys watching Zach (who plays bass) get annoyed with one SRB song every time they play it. And finally, Zach admits to being SRB’s full-fledged nerd who fixes the band’s computers, electronics, and doesn’t shy away from bringing math homework to their shows.
Props to these guys for being real people with real quirks AND fine musicians.
If you still need some inspiration to check these guys out on October 10th at The Gothic Theatre, then do what SRB does to get hyped for their shows: throw on Jethro Tull’s “Stand Up” and visualize how much fun you’ll have rocking out to some fabulous tunes.
