ENGLEWOOD CO – We are less than three weeks away from Denver’s first and very own Skate and Punk festival SUMMERGRIND! In the last few weeks we have unveiled the official poster artwork and logo by Lindsey Kuhn (Swamp Co.) Lindsey will be present on Saturday September 1^st to sell official posters and shirts.  In addition to Official Merchandise there will be a wide variety of vendors in the Headed West Vendor Village at the outdoor stage.  Including a half pipe brought to us by Thrifty Stick Board Shop with sponsored skate teams from around the Front Range.  Live painting will take place in conjunction with a booth from Community Service: street wear & art gallery.

Speaking of the Gothic’s parking lot, we are pleased to announce the line up for the Westword Local’s Outdoor Stage! The publication has been an integral part of SummerGrind from the early planning stages and are pleased to host some of the best in local Denver ska and punk: Ska Skank Redemption, The Dendrites, Loaded 45, The Atom Age, Elway, and co-headliners Skyfox and Frontside 5.

Our fully stocked outdoor bar will feature three different types of Breckenridge Beer on tap! Our favorite local brewery will host a diverse mix of local and national artists at The Breckenridge Brewery Stage at Moe’s! From 4:30- 11:30 the Breck stage at Moe’s will feature headliners Speedwolf and Stolen Babies.  Locals who are no stranger to the Moe’s stage will be bringing their very best for their special festival sets: Allout Helter, Knock-Out, Anchor Point, Orphans, Captain Blood, and The Ruckus.

We’re hearing SummerGrind buzz everywhere! Not just on Colorado’s Front Range but as far up as Bozeman MT and Cheyenne WY and down to Albuquerque NM, punk rockers young and old will be traveling to Denver on September 1^st for the rare appearance of legends like Leftover Crack and The Dwarves closing out the night at the Gothic!  Our excellent promotions team from For The Love Of Punk have brought SummerGrind to punks across the west!  There are only a handful of VIP tickets left and GA tickets are moving fast!  Stay tuned in the next week for the official schedule and we’ll see you on September 1^st!

With summer on our heals it’s time for things to move outside.  Especially time to see music outside!  The Gothic Theatre and Moe’s Original are proud to announce the culmination of our outdoor events with a Labor Day weekend festival: SUMMERGRIND.

SummerGrind will be an all day event for the punk-rocking skater in all of us!

Featuring an all-star line up of legendary punk bands, up-and-comers and the best of Denver’s local scene on three stages, SummerGrind will have a little something for everyone.  We will be taking over the Gothic, Moe’s and the parking lot in between. The blacktop will be the focal point of most of the day’s events with a full stage set up, a half pipe (donated by Thrifty Stick), vendor village, full bar, official merchandise and plenty of entertainment during and in between bands.

We are proud to announce our headliners at the Gothic’s stage- Punk Rock legends LEFTOVER CRACK and THE DWARVES!  Previously Choking Victim, Leftover Crack has been a hard ticket in the US as of late. They played for the first time in the states in more than two years at the beginning of 2012 in their native New York City. We’re proud to bring them out to Denver for the first time in four years.  The Dwarves continue their insane onstage antics since the mid 1980s and will bring their notorious hardcore sound to Denver’s loyal fans in September.

Moe’s Stage will feature avant-garde headliners POLKADOT CADAVER and STOLEN BABIES and the Outdoor -Locals- stage will feature FRONTSIDE 5 and SKYFOX.  We hope to have a full line up of Denver’s best alternative sports athletes and bands in the coming weeks to be featured both indoors and out!

Carefully chosen sponsors and vendors will be key in creating an atmosphere that celebrates the Rocky Mountain’s DIY aesthetic.  We hope you will join us for a festival that will send summer out with a blast!

The festival is Saturday, September 1st and will run from 3 pm until 12am.  SUMMERGRIND is unique to Denver and it’s metro area and an excellent way to connect with punk, ska, metal, and rock fans of all ages.  We hope you will join us!

The Gothic Theatre is pleased to announce the first major addition to the Gothic’s Fall line up, with 30 year post-punk veterans SWANS! They will be accompanied by experimental indie rockers XIU XIU for an exceptional night of music. SWANS will release “The Seer” on August 28th of this year. The two hour double disk is their newest album of original material after 2010′s “My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky”. According to frontman Michael Gira “The Seer” is, “the culmination of every previous Swans album as well as any other music I’ve ever made, been involved in, or imagined.” We’ll all have a taste of what 30 years in the making is all about come September 24th when Michael and his evolving line up take the stage at the Gothic!

We are excited to announce the return of REAL ESTATE to Denver! This time, at the Gothic! These guys are on top of the indie rock world right now and since their headlining debut at Moe’s last November they’ve gotten a lot of attention.  Their sophomore album Days released in October of last year was named one of Pitchfork’s top ten records of 2011, and they really seem to be Pitchfork’s darlings (the website just about covers their every move).  Which is ok by me since they pointed out the new song that the guys played three weeks ago on WXPN’s “World Cafe Live”; see if you can catch “In My Car” at around the 25 minute mark and enjoy a bunch of beautifully played tracks off of Days http://www.npr.org/event/music/144737168/world-cafe-live-real-estate-in-concert. You don’t get more hip than this on Friday April 27th.

We are pleased to announce that RUSTED ROOT will headline the Gothic on Saturday April 14th with Skinny Lister and Denver’s own, Mr. Right!  We haven’t seen Rusted Root around in a while and we’re excited to see what they have in store for us – of COURSE we still LOVE the old stuff – Send us on our way ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGMabBGydC0!
