Heavy music and emotionally revealing lyrics go together like snow and a cold day. Colorado’s Wasting Yesterday, is breaking from tradition. By combining diverse influences to create a unique sound that collectively confronts old memories and proves that there is a brighter side to life. In the summer of 2003 Justin started writing with guitarist, Jsin, who had been in other local bands before splitting away to start a new band. By winter, bassist, Matt and drummer, Shawn had joined to collaborate on the process. Their first practice together was riveting; Jsin’s melodic and infectious grooves combined with Shawn’s rhythmic technique, Matt’s soulful, eclectic style and Justin’s emotionally driven lyrics inspired them to start writing tracks immediately. Everyone brings a different influence and background to the band that blends together to form one passion. Wasting Yesterday is quickly building a consistent fan base with other local bands and is now a fan favorite in the Western United States. With many shows currently under their belt and an incredible showcase performance for three major record labels at the Hard Rock CafĂ© in Salt Lake City, UT, the band now has the attention of the music industry. In the summer of 2005 Wasting Yesterday competed and won against thirteen other Midwest bands in a Battle of the Bands competition called Progression Through Music II. Wasting Yesterday dominated the stage with their own powerful musical creations combined with an energetic, uninhibited stage show and came away with the experience that poised them for the national stage. Currently the band is putting the finishing touches on the EP Listen which is scheduled for release in the early spring of 2006. Their tight-knit chemistry and non-chalant approach to songs keep the crowds wanting more. Wasting Yesterday is turning heads, and their story has just begun.
