The Juliet Dagger

PURE FUN, TOO CUTE and SIMPLY VICIOUS . . . . . All the right reasons for loving a band like Buffalo’s The Juliet Dagger.

Lead vocalist / guitarist Erin Roberts is a representative voice of the drama, trials and tribulations of today’s youth. Roberts is a spectacular songstress providing a soundtrack for the concepts and confusion of approaching adulthood.

Erin and the Daggers musically straddle the fence between the aggressive (think the Descendents, Bad Religion and Alkaline Trio) and the melodic (think The Go Go’s and Juliana Hatfield) with the enthusiasm and wit of a riot girl with a very real point to prove. When asked to describe the band Erin is quoted as saying, “I write catchy rock songs – so people call it pop, but as a band, we approach the songs with the attack of punk. They’re loud, crunchy, catchy tunes.”

The Juliet Dagger toured extensively from 2004 – 2006 supporting their critically acclaimed debut release “Turn Up the Death” (GC004) produced by Robby Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls. The band opened for acts as diverse as Rufus Wainright, Wilco, Guster, Ben Folds, My Morning Jacket, Lisa Loeb, and most recently supported some dates on the Goo Goo Dolls / Counting Crows US tour.

Playing out at venues across the nation the daggers have graced stages at the Whisky A Go Go, Knitting Factory, House of Blues (Las Vegas, San Diego), HSBC Arena, and the Shira Stage (2005 Warped Tour) just to name a few. They were also a featured band on the 2005 Ford Fusion tour and
have performed for thousands of students across the North Eastern US as part of the Music is Art Foundation’s High School Awareness Tour.

When Erin and The Juliet Dagger are not touring they’re busy recording, making videos, and giving back to the community. The band recorded the theme song for the first official PEZ Candy Animated Cartoon and then released the enhanced CD, “The ‘Saturday Morning’ & ‘Sooper’ Video Singles” (GC011).The official cartoon is due out on DVD in 2007. They also contributed a track to the “Music is Hope” CD (GC008) which benefits Autism research in Western New York, and were involved in the Daisy Rock Guitars Girl’s Songwriters clinic (along with special guest Lisa Loeb).

Erin and her band spent a week in Japan in the summer of 2006 touring and recording tracks for their new CD “Hi-Ya!” (GC013) due out in fall of 2007. This exciting disc (produced by Robby Takac / mixed by Paul David Hager) will feature English and Japanese versions of Dagger songs performed with Naoko of Shonen Knife. A September 11th, 2007 street date will be followed by touring in Japan, US and Canada. This highly anticipated release includes a bonus DVD and will be distributed nationwide by Koch Entertainment.
