When it comes to music, Tami Nichols has almost seen it all! Performing for more than ten years professionally, on a stage with a mic is when she’s at her best, not to mention she’s been writing her own songs since she was 16, with a little help from her friends of course!
Born and raised in Minnesota, Tami got her start in musical theatre at the young age of 10. Working on shows from “Gypsy”, “Godspell”, and “Babes in Toyland” (to name a few), is where she fell in love with entertaining. But along w/ a new love of the stage, tragedy struck the following year, with her father (a musician) committing suicide. Performing created an outlet of sanity, and in that experience her true artist was brought to life.
At 14, Tami tried her hand at “Hollywood” with IMTA’s (International Modeling and Talent Association’s) competition in Los Angeles, CA. She achieved 1st place in the Dramatic Monologue category, that she had co-written, and 2nd place in the singing category. Interest sparked, but at the time she was too young to relocate.
At age 17, Tami started co-hosting a singing lounge act at Cragun’s Resort on Gull Lake, in Nisswa, MN. The show headlined from 1995-1998 and was a huge success. It drew vacationers as well as local patrons to the elite resort. During this time, Tami was also doing commercials and voiceovers for television and radio.
Tami hit the road in 1996. She got an opportunity as the lead vocalist for a contemporary country band “Way out West”. This is where the real dues were paid! At 18, she was touring in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado, playing 6 nights a week, living in “band houses” above bars, and not knowing a soul. DUES!
In 1998, she packed up her car and headed west to Denver, where she remains. In Denver, Tami has had a lot of unique musical endeavors. She has been lead vocalist for “Boogie Machine”- one of the nations premier Disco cover acts, as well as the Retro 80’s cover band, “Ronnie Raygun and The Big 80’s”. She then moved onto an original project called “Image”, where she co-wrote, produced, and performed an album of 11 original (Electronica) European style pop tracks. “Image” performed at Denver venues such as the Hard Rock Café, and The Soiled Dove.
Today, Tami is promoting her debut album, a pop/rock effort self-titled “Tami Nichols” that she also co-wrote and produced. Playing at great venues, like The Walnut Room, Herman’s Hideaway, and The Toad Tavern, she is truly in her element. Also with the help of airplay from local stations such as 93.3 KTLC, she is spreading her music to the masses, and working hard toward success.
“Tami Nichols is in a league of her own. Great voice, and great tunes, make for a killer recording”.
