Churning out hits since the 1970’s, he has developed an idiosyncratic style that alternates between sweeping cinematic pop and rolling R&B, tied together by his nasty sense of humor. Newman draws characters in his songs, creating a world filled with misfits, outcasts, charlatans and con men.
