Randy

Randy formed in the early nineties, and they soon became the fast, energetic punkband that can be heard on their first albums. 1995 brought their first full-length release entitled “There’s No Way We’re Gonna Fit In”. The sound was hard and fast, and the lyrics had a strong political, revolutionary, red message. This political touch has always stayed within Randy, even if the music has continued to develop. In 1996 they released “The Rest is Silence”. The goal was to make the fastest punkrecord ever made, and as far as I know, they succeeded. According to the members this should have been their first record. A lot of touring followed, including a one-month tour with Lagwagon in Europe. From this time and onwards Randy has been a heavily touring band; first conquering Sweden, later Scandinavia, Europe, and the World. After this period the band went through some changes: a new label (Ampersand), and a new bass player. This also seemed to have an effect on their sound, and Randy found a new, even stronger energy in their new beat. In 1998 they released “You Can’t Keep a Good Band Down” (also released in the US and Canada by the G7 Welcome Committee). The Boys had really come together as a band and found that special spirit that every band searches for. “You can’t…” was well received in media and among fans all around the world. The Randy members are still proud of this one. The songs, the sound, and their newfound energy together with their anarchistic, hard-hitting lyrics turned Randy into a tremendous live act. This is the band we all know as Randy today.

After hundreds of shows around the world, they signed Burning Heart Records for their upcoming albums. Randy commented it: “After being in this punk/antiestablishment/PC/always broke/ underground-movement (which is where we still are and will always be) a long time, it feels like you want to take it a step ahead. Burning Heart was in this case the only alternative, if you want to stay punk. So, we are all satisfied and pretty exited about it”.

Excited is exactly what Burning Heart Records is about RANDY’s first release for the label, the thrilling album” The Human Atom Bombs”. This is the album where RANDY takes their past, their present, their beliefs and motives melting it all together in a gumbo stew that never tasted better. Randy has putted their lives on stake badly contaminated by the rockin’ pneumonia and the punk-rock flue in their effort in writing a punk rock classic, and “The Human Atom Bombs” is the one-finger-in-the-air proof that they achieved their goal. With songs as the Buzzcokin “Addicts Of Communication”, the Jerry Rubin-ish “Karl Marx And History”, the thoughtful and brilliant “If We Unite” side by side with another bunch of great songs that shows the high standard of Randy’s songwriting (“Proletarian Hop”, “Freedom Song” and “Win Or Lose”), mixed with sharp-penned radical/socialist/anarchist/anti-capitalist/revolutionary lyrics, “The Human Atom Bombs” is really an outstanding album in every sense. The album was recorded with Pelle Gunnerfeldt (that have produced among others THE HIVES, THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY etc). The members of the band actually helped him building the studio, so this time Randy takes the “do-it-yourself”-spirit to a new dimension. Before they entered the studio they build it!
