In October of 2002, guitarist/singer Yandys made Peter (guitarist) an offer he couldn’t refuse: “Let’s start a band!” Simple, straight, and crystal clear. Peter responded with an enthusiastic “Yes!” Martin was talked into playing the drums, and Craig volunteered for bass guitar duties.
However Craig was proving to be more problematic than we could handle, and in a few weeks he resigned from the band. Now without a bassist, we found ourselves in the dilemma that so many bands face. We needed to locate another bassist. Not just any person would do though. We wanted a genuine person to fill the position, one that would give the band its name and fit the heritage. Peter suggested his buddy Dan, so with two phone calls and an office visit later Dan joined, and in February of 2003 the band was finally complete.
The band though still needed a name. As the two musicians (Dan and Yandys) were driving around one day with the radio cranked up to a ‘zillion watts’; they suggested Randal as the band’s name. Randal in the Czech language means ‘a big noise’. We agreed that Randal was the best moniker for the music we composed. Once the descriptive name was set into stone, Martin got busy on designing a logo. Thus Randal was born.
Randal, the word and the members, all come from the same heritage. With all four members originally from the Czech Republic, we feel that we have a unique bond that has stemmed from our childhood home in Europe.
Randal is a rock band playing the mix of both English and Czech cover songs, and bands such as Megadeth, Judas Priest, AC/DC or Accept could describe our style. We also compose and play our own originals in both English and Czech.
So….ENJOY THE SHOW, ENJOY “A BIG NOISE”,....oooops we meant ENJOY RANDAL
