Rachel’s Playpen
After Rachel Simring and Andy Ard parted ways and stopped performing as ‘rachel and andy’ in June of 2001, Rachel began her quest for new bandmates. After only a few short months, ‘rachel’s playpen’ was formed. Rachel managed to get only the best musicians for her new band, with Dan Garcia (formerly of El Fiend) on lead guitar, Andre (Frenchie) Guerra (also of Monkey Bite) on bass and Animal Andy Walters (formerly of Dear Marsha) on drums.
Since their inception, rachel’s playpen has played a number of Denver’s popular venues and festivals, including The Soiled Dove, The Bluebird Theatre, Herman’s Hideaway and The People’s Fair. Armed with two Westword Music Award nominations in the ‘Best Singer/Songwriter’ category and a slew of supporters, Rachel and her boys appear to be one of Denver’s newest favorite bands.
