High on the Hog formed in early July, 2001, around a common passion for the string band music in American South. By combining European and African musical elements heard in rural dancehalls, at work, and in prayer in everything from fiddle tunes to field hollers to love ballads, old time is the wellspring of American music. It contains the seeds of what would become the driving forces behind bluegrass, jam-based rock and roll, and electronic dance music in the second half of the Twentieth Century.
