Everything Absent Or Distorted

> Everything Absent or Distorted is a love story. Eight children came together through cosmic combinations of fate, prior bands, prior colleges, prior lives and Richard Pryor. EAOD meshes a consortium of seemingly nonsensical instrumentation including synthesizers, trombone, accordion, banjo, drums, violin – and as many guitars as possible – to ratify a multitude of rock and roll resolutions. The Denver Post once lovingly referred to them simply as “The Arcade Fire meets Guided By Voices”. They’re currently playing shows in support of their upcoming release “the great Collapse” due out this fall. With the new record they have evolved into David Foster Wallace divided by Teenage Fanclub fused with David Lynch multiplied by the Wrens crossed with Damien Hirst. …or something like that.

> The band has played opening slots with the Decembrists, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Kings of Leon, Cake, The Rosebuds, Devotchka, Ghostland Observatory, Snowden, Voxtrot, and Land of Talk among others. EAOD’s first recording, The Soft Civil War was self-released by the band through its own Needlepoint Records in 2006. The Soft Civil War broke the top 100 on the CMJ charts and hit #1 at College Radio Stations across the U.S. The boys were flattered to have music legend Nic Harcourt give the record several spins on ‘Morning Becomes Eclectic’. By year’s end, The Soft Civil War found itself on numerous ‘best of’ lists including The Denver Post, The Boulder Daily Camera, Westword, The Onion, numerous blogs, as well as The Village Voice and Idolator.

> EAOD was honored to be voted the #5 best underground band in Denver for 2 years in a row according to a Denver Post Survey of over 100 local music snobs. The band was also honored to be asked to play the legendary main stage at Red Rocks for the inaugural Monolith festival along with The Flaming Lips and Spoon.
