For 10 years I toured the country and performed as cofounder of the band Jackopierce. After our last show on New Years Eve 1998 with matchbox 20 and The Wallflowers, we amicably called it quits.

I took the next year off from music. We had released 6 records (2 for A&M), toured in 44 states, 3 continents and 10 countries. I was burnt. There was a time when I wasn1t even sure if I wanted to keep playing or writing. It was time to take a step back, regroup, and rediscover what was such a large part of my life—music

I learned that connecting with people is the most important thing to me. I was also reminded that music allows me the opportunity to directly and indirectly connect with an infinite amount of people. Whether I’m performing in hospitals, churches, clubs, or in front of 500,000 people (1997 Blockbuster Rockfest), I am grateful for the opportunity to connect and entertain.
