Some bands just have it all—great songs, great vocals, great look and an amazing live show. The Baseboard Heaters is one of these bands. Formed in late 1997, the Heaters created a buzz usually reserved for veterans of the club circuit. The band paid no attention, choosing instead to focus on their first release, Seeing Red, that came out in 1999 to critical acclaim.
Immediate reaction from the band’s live shows spread to a very real interest from record labels hungry for the Heaters’ sound. In the Spring of 2001, the band released its second CD, Lost All Faith, and followed with an extensive tour that found them playing L.A.’s House of Blues, the Troubadour, the Viper Room, South By Southwest and an invitation to audition for VH1’s Bands On The Run.
The Heaters have found great direction and improved on their sound with the help of fellow Portlander, Pete Droge who has produced a number of tunes now for the band. They are a hard working band that spends much time on the road spreading their music to growing legions of fans. “Keep playing and keep creating,” says Souther. “That’s all you can do. We are just trying to be a good rock and roll band.”
