Mid 90’s- Santa Barbara local, Mikey Doling was rocking with ‘Snot’ at the clubs in Hollywood, and just signed to a major label…at the same time Roy Mayorga and Marcelo Dias were putting together a band called ‘Soulfly’. By ‘97 both bands would have solid records out and be touring constantly! In another part of LA, Jasan Radford and Levon Sultanian were putting the final touches on one of rocks most underrated and talented bands to come out in a long time; they would be called ‘OneSideZero’ and would also sign a to a major label.
Sometime in mid ‘97, these talented people would cross paths while out on
tour together. From there, a life long friendship of great times and future
musical ambition would follow…
An unfortunate accident abruptly affected the lives of many, Lynn Strait;
lead singer of Snot was tragically stolen away from the world. A horrible car accident put Mikey and the rest of the band out on the streets to find their own…
Mikey without a band, and Soulfly out of a guitarist (ironically at the
same time), there was no question who they would call. Mikey would spend the end of the 90’s and the beginning of 2000 with Soulfly.
Intermingling throughout the years, on and off tour, the guys in these two
bands became really great friends!
The next generation and the new Millennium- After years of joking about
writing some music together, the guys: Mikey, Roy, Marcelo, Levon, and Jasan, sat down to let the creative juices flow…what came of their first collaboration would end up becoming….ABLOOM!
Once the universe set the perfect time, the stars and planets aligned, they
finally got underway. With all due respect to the other bands, it was clear to all that there was an INCREDIBLE energy, chemistry and sense of musical style that they could not to deny…it felt right!
The guys were faced with an ultimatum, and ultimately quit their respective
bands to focus their attention to ABLOOM. It was something magical, in the pursuit of creating music that satisfied their collective hunger.
This quintet of revered musicians, have collectively tapped into their
creative depths to produce a sound that provokes a cerebral and aggressive rock vibe.
With some 20 plus songs under their belt, and constant writing, the band
has been getting a lot of extremely positive feedback from a very rapidly growing fan base pushing them to the next level.
With creativity and the ability to reinvent themselves, ABLOOM will rise to
become the next big thing…
