The 69 Eyes
“DEVILS”, the 7th album of The 69 Eyes is their first release on a big major label. Released in their native Finland in October 2004 – and later on in Europe – it is also their 4th album to reach gold status and again another number one position on the Finnish TOP40 album charts. Combining all their influences from high energy punk rock to glam rock and all the way to gothic, this album produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Sentenced, Moonspell
etc) introduces The 69 Eyes at their very best: loud’n’proud but with a melancholy soul.
Ever since the early 90’s The 69 Eyes have been playing like their influences taught them, just like to trust on the unholy combination of black hair, leather jackets and sunglasses after dark – The Ramones, Dead Boys, The Cramps, The Doors, Iggy; just to name a few – these days it might be even more simple to tell them to be the missing link between Hanoi Rocks and HIM! Looking at their audience, it’s definitely easy to tell that we have here a REAL cult band which gathers all the subculture people from goths to black metal kids to teddy boys to glam teens under the same roof – they really ARE Helsinki Vampires as they call themselves. Headlining European tours and main stage festival appearances at the biggest festivals in Europe like Sziget Hungary and M’era Luna Germany have always been a proof of the power of ROCK - that’s what The 69 Eyes do, they ROCK.
The 69 Eyes previous album “Paris Kills” (2002, Roadrunner/Poko) has reached platinum in Finland. The 69 Eyes have got gold and platinum in Finland also from their three previous albums: “Blessed Be” (2000, Roadrunner/Poko), “Paris Kills”
(2002) and “Framed In Blood – The Very Blessed Of…” (their best of compilation, 2003).
After the release of “DEVILS”, the band has been very busy touring all around Europe and Japan. On November 2005 the album was released in USA. The 69 Eyes will be touring USA in early 2006.
